Always a Disney girl

Hey! How’s everyone dealing with the quarantine? I’m doing good and bad at the same time. It’s been so long since I posted something. So now I finally have the time to complete all my pending work like painting, studying (which I’m not but I really have to), and writing this blog, etc.

Here’s some pictures from an impromptu shoot that I did back in October. Shot by: The Metal Farmer a.k.a. Pritham Denzil D’Souza. The only things I had on my face were: foundation, eyeliner, lipstick. And yet I don’t know how he managed to make me look good in the pictures.😅

Aaaand yes, the caption. So I’ve always been a Disney fan. I guess we all were, once upon a time, and then we grow up and it kinda fades away eventually. Well, mine clearly hasn’t! And adulting is hard when you’re a Disney kid. 😂 But I manage.

All I did was: Something basic + cartoon glasses + a Disney accessory (like my phone cover here) + a bow hairband (bonus points for polka dots!) And we have a Disney girl.

Oh and, the hairband is just a scarf I bow-tied on my head. Yes, those are my regular glasses and that’s my actual phone cover.😁

Also, what’s your favourite Disney character/movie? I love Simba from The Lion King.❤

See ya. Until next time, Hakuna Matata.😬✌️

A day with the divers: West coast adventures, Kaup

Kaup (Kapu) is a small town, in Udupi district of Karnataka, 15km from the University town of Manipal. West coast adventures have been conducting scuba diving here from the past three years and I’m surprised that a lot of people (including me) had no clue about it.

Being born and brought up in the coastal city of Mangalore, not only have I always loved the Sea, but I’ve also had this weird, but strong attachment towards it. Whenever I’d take a boat ride, I’d always feel this urge to jump into the water, and yesterday, I finally got to do that!

We started out on the boat to the dive site in the morning, after a briefing on the basics of scuba diving by Bharathraj Shetty, one of the instructors. There are also two other scuba diving instructors: Luis and Praveen. All of them are PADI and SSI certified instructors. And then there’s Archana, she’s a DMT (Dive Master Trainee). They make a super fun and friendly team!

After practicing the diving instructions on the boat, we were to dive in groups of three (one instructor takes one person at a time). Although I was a little scared regarding the breathing part, the moment I got into the water, all of that vanished. #watermakesmehappy 😂

Luis showed me around: so many different kinds of fishes, even schools of them swimming together. All so colourful and with varied prints on them! I was in a state of disbelief; like, am I really swimming with these fishes in the middle of the Sea? Am I dreaming? Everything seemed to look bigger inside the water, I didn’t even realise that I ever had short-sightedness. And yes, I did try to find Nemo, but I found Dory instead!😅 (well, she did look like Dory I don’t know.)

The dive was about 30 minutes, although it felt like 30 seconds. (Time flies when you’re happy, doesn’t it?) If I had a pair of gills, you’d never see me on land again.😂 Needless to say, life is more than beautiful, underwater. I wish I could do this more often. I don’t know why a lot of people think diving isn’t safe. It certainly is a lot more safer than driving. You don’t even need to be a swimmer, because you’ll be taken underwater by the instructor. And here, not only do you get to experience scuba diving, but you can also learn and get an international diving certificate!

So here’s a bunch of photos from my dive yesterday (probably the happiest pictures of me!)

A wild Halloween

Halloween wishes from a Panthera pardus!

So how do you guys celebrate Halloween? Costume party? Trick or treating? Or do you just sit there doing nothing? (That’s what I do every year😂)Anyway, this year I decided to look like a leopard for Halloween.

Did you know: Leopards have rosette patterns on their body. They differ from jaguars that have spots inside their rosettes, and also cheetahs that have just spots and not rosettes.

Okay that’s enough lecture from a Veterinarian for a day.😅 Moving on, to get this look I’ve worn a leopard print scarf as a crop top, with striped jeggings. The MUA got a little more creative with the makeup.😍 Rosettes done using gold liquid liner and brown eye pencil, and smokey eye using a black and brown palette.

Clicked this at a friend’s house because the bottle collection here is lit.😍 Isn’t it?More deets on the MUA, photography and location courtesy: on my insta.

All that glitters is Gold

Hello and welcome to Diwali! I can’t wait to see the levels of air pollution, noise pollution and endless animal torture people are gonna cause this year.😧 Let’s not be one of them.

This Diwali, don’t burst a Pataka, be one! And what better way to glow than Gold? Speaking of, here’s how I transformed one of mom’s sarees. I’d always been eyeing the hues and prints on this one. Plus it’s light and easy to wear (if you’re clumsy like me😅).

I didn’t want it to look like the regular pant saree, hence, the palazzos. Thankfully I had a flare sleeved blouse in the same shade. Although both pieces are from different sets, put together, they look like they were made for this saree!

Since I overdosed with the Gold here, I minimized on the jewellery. Also, can we take a break from hair styling tools for once? I can’t seem to get back from my break yet.😂 Loving the damage free hair. Y’all should try it sometime.😉

That’s all for now. Have a happy, safe, pollution-free and cruelty-free Diwali.🌌 Thank you.✌

Past or present?

When it comes to fashion, past is definitely where I want to be because I love all things retro! Be it winged eyeliners or puffy hairstyles, forehead headbands or oversized accessories, there’s always something about them that makes me wanna get into a time machine and travel back in time only so I get to live life, wearing this stuff!

And here’s three of those things I’d ALWAYS love to wear.

3. Chokers

I was never a fan of the conventional chokers until a friend got me one. It’s crochet and is actually gold in colour, but it’s black on the reverse side and that’s how I’ve worn it. If you’re anything like me, you’d rather agree on crochet, metal or embellished chokers than the regular ones.

2. Polka dots!

Probably the most loved prints of all time! It’s a little too late to talk about their comeback but I’m hoping they’re here to stay. I’d have loved to wear a polka dot dress here but I wanted something more subtle, so I used this little scarf as a hairband instead.

1. Flared pants

We all wish we could wear them more often than we actually do. Apart from the comfort, there’s an entirely different feel to it. Depending on how you wear it, it can either make or break your look. The ones I’m wearing here fall under the typical “bell bottoms” category and I got them way back when they were actually “cool”. I guess I was thirteen something. Yeah I haven’t grown since then! 😂 Maybe that’s why people laugh at me. They say I still look like a sixteen year old. But that’s okay because ten years from now, when I haven’t aged a day, I’ll be the one laughing! 😅

I’m also always crushing on that typical winged eyeliner they had back then and the puffed up hairstyle with fringes! I could go on and on here but I think I’ll stop. 😅 Tell me if I’ve missed out on any of your favourites. 😀

LBD

Hey, Welcome back to my blog! It’s been twelve days… Thank you so much for reading my first post and subscribing to the blog. (For those of you who haven’t, now’s the time 😉)

Okay it’s obvious from the title that this post is about a Little Black Dress right? Only, the dress isn’t black, it’s White! So basically it is a Little Blanche Dress (Blanche is French for white). And I’d choose white over black any day. (I know most of you might not relate to this, but white is my favourite colour and I always find everything a lot more prettier when I see it in white!) A white dress also acts like a plain white canvas, there’s so much you could do with it.

So here’s the LBD in seven different forms (along with my stockings, because that’s what I do when I’m too lazy to wax).

1. As you like it

(Not by Shakespeare)

The dress is as it is and I’ve worn it with hoops and ballerinas. Add a bouquet and I’ll look like a bridesmaid.😅

2. Dress over pants

I love the look of faux leather so much. See what it did here? Also, I think I need to give more credit to my favourite pair of pumps (they’re the cutest ones I own)

3. Straight from the office

Just kidding. I don’t have an office to go to.😂 But this one’s my favourite, because I’m wearing these cute faux fur earrings here and I also like the way the blazer has changed the look of the dress entirely.

4. A Superwoman cape

Because a Superman cape would be too boring.

5. Denim

Sure denim on denim is old, but it never dies. And you couldn’t go wrong with this one, especially when you’re wearing it with boots and fringed earrings.

6. Skirtsy

Minus the jeans and button down the shirt, it now looks like a pretty little white skirt.

7. Cotton candy!

Yeah those days when I wanna look like a cotton candy, I take out this skirt!😅

Which one did you like the most? Let me know. And keep coming back here. See ya.

Sea you there

Hey all! Welcome to my blog and my first post. I’d been thinking about doing this for a while now but never had the time. And now, here I am.. finally, writing my first blog post!

So for the shoot, I procrastinated till the last minute, as usual. I hadn’t thought of the concept, content, what I’m gonna wear, how I’ll pose, what locations to shoot in or how I want the outcome to look like. And I had exactly one and a half hour to do all of the above, then get ready, do my makeup and hair and get going. So I randomly picked out this maxi skirt that I had never worn. I literally bought this from the street shops in Delhi during the college tour. It sure is flowy enough for a person of my taste. The print is creeper, basically blue on white and is partly horizontal, partly vertical. To go with it I took out this ruffled off shoulders in blue, that I’ve worn as a one shoulder. (You’re gonna see a lot of jugaad here. Lol) This one was gifted to me by a cousin, and it looks a lot baggy on me. (I’m unapologetically skinny and I’d like to keep it that way).

I’m wearing this pair of oxidised earrings that I heart because they’re so huge! And pretty too, with all of that intricacy. (Just in case you didn’t notice: I love super huge earrings! And yeah, one shoulder outfits too.) Being an artist, I’m always on the look out for detailing, and this pair really has it going for me. It also converts the outfit into something Bohemian.

Once I got done with the outfit I literally had no time for my makeup and hair so I just did some basics: a beige foundation mousse, metallic liner in gold glitter and liquid matte lipstick in oxblood (although it doesn’t look like it. Blame the lighting and edits maybe). As for the hair, all I got to do was apply a heavy dose of serum and brush through. And I absolutely love the beach waves I got here.

This isn’t really about beach wear though we shot at the beach. But I really like how the backdrop goes so well with the outfit entirely. And who said you couldn’t wear a maxi skirt to the beach, right?Anyway, here are a few more pictures. I hope you’ll like them. Also: Didn’t know you’d make it till here, thanks. 😀 That’s all for now. Hope y’all have a great week ahead. Sea y’all here next time, at my next post. (Pun intended)
